Drivers’ confidence in EV on the rise

In a study done by University of California, Davis and BMW, where 450 early adopters paid $850 a month to lease a Mini-E and were asked questions about range anxiety, charging, weather and other factors, findings revealed that drivers find value in using electricity as a fuel and mastering their energy use. Also, the issue of range anxiety is no longer as worrying as drivers picked up their rides and learnt that there have not been much intrusive changes in their lives. Some drivers reported that they tend to map out their routes before they start their day, leading them to discover new stores and shorter routes.

From Consumer Reports, it stated that sentiments were in line with national surveys, more than 70 percent of Mini-E drivers drove the car less than 40 miles a day. Fully 95 percent of them drove less than 80 miles a day, well within the car’s theoretical 100-mile range – as long as the weather was good. Expressing a common sentiment, one driver said: “I expected to be able to use the Mini-E for 70 percent of my driving, but I have actually used it for 97 percent of my driving.

Another point to note, while most of the drivers charge their vehicle at home, they are also looking forward to more public charging spots. And this is how Greenlots will be their ideal charging partner. We have developed an electric vehicle charging infrastructure to make driving electric vehicle a smooth and fuss free experience. Keep a look out for Greenlots the next time you park in a car park, or at the roadside.
